I am Still Going to Show Up

No Franchise Value - and I am Still Going to Show Up

"This is an industry with no franchise value."
- Satya Nadella ~ 25 July 2025

Those words stayed with me.

Not that it was deep, but that it was familiar. It put words to a feeling I’ve quietly understood for some time: in tech, you can’t coast. Nothing you build owes a future. Users walk past you. Tools are outdated. And that next thing is always just around the corner.

I'm developing myflopy.com in the midst of all this.
A cloud storage product. In 2025.
When storage appears to be a done deal.

And still, I persist.

Why?

Because I don’t think that the problem has been solved. Not quite.

Most storage systems are designed to scale.
I am building MyFlopy for meaning

People don’t store files. They store signals. Reminders. Bits of memory.

The college essay that you thought was brilliant.
Last year's voice message from your mom.
Fuzzy document scan that matters to you more today than it mattered to you back in the day.
Forgotten CVs, stalled designs, work you meant to finish — and hopefully still are.

We are not just storing data. We are storing versions of ourselves.

And most of these services don’t care. They’re fast, slick, and feature-saturated. But they don’t feel made for people. They feel made for usage.

MyFlopy differentiates itself. Well, at least, that's what it tries to

What does Nadella’s statement mean to a builder like me?

It means I don’t get to build once and enjoy it afterwards.
It implies that there’s no “moat” that I can hide behind.
It implies that I will have to earn trust every single month.

And maybe that's not so bad after all.

It makes me grounded and human.
To answer every support query myself for now. To be obsessed with a file uploading mistake due to having one’s mind frozen behind it.

Writing this blog to stay true - to me and to anyone watching.

The game that I play

I am here to serve the next 1,000 users who are in need of a storage space that feels more personal.
And if we do it right —
If MyFlopy becomes where everyone feels safe to keep things that are important, then I would not need a franchise.
I’ll have something better: relevance, trust, and a product that I’m proud to make better.

One user at a time.

Hello, World – A New Beginning

Hello, World – A New Beginning

Posted by Prasoon Mishra

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

This blog is something I’ve wanted to start for a while - a small corner of the internet where I can share thoughts, ideas, stories, and anything else that feels worth putting into words. Nothing fancy, just honest writing.

I’m Prasoon Mishra, and this space is my digital notebook. You might find reflections on daily life, questions I am exploring, things I have read or watched, or simply thoughts that don’t fit anywhere else but here.

Why This Blog?

Because sometimes, it helps to slow down and write, to take a breath, sit with a thought, and give it a little more space than a tweet or a message thread allows.

I don’t have a fixed theme or niche - not yet. This will likely be a mix of personal observations, occasional essays, and maybe even short stories or creative experiments. I’m not aiming for perfection here - just something real.

What You Can Expect

Right now, I imagine this blog will include:

  • Reflections on life, growth, and everyday experiences

  • Thoughts on books, films, or ideas that stay with me

  • Notes on creativity, writing, or learning new things

  • Maybe a little exploration of tech, culture, or anything else I’m curious about

It’s a work in progress, and that’s exactly how I want it to be.

One Last Thing

If you’re reading this, thank you. I don’t take your time or attention for granted. Feel free to stick around, read a few posts, and maybe even share a thought or two.

Here’s to the start of something new - quiet, simple, and hopefully meaningful.

See you in the next post.

– Prasoon
